CleanBC Rebates Are Being Cut July 6 — How to Lock In Today's Amounts Before July 5

The Deadline That Decides Your Rebate

If you've been thinking about a heat pump or new insulation, the next few days matter more than the next few months. On July 6, 2026, the CleanBC Energy Savings Program (ESP) reduces heat pump rebates, discontinues the electric-to-heat-pump rebate, and ends insulation rebates completely. The program has been explicit that there are no exceptions: any customer whose Eligibility Code or Opportunity Report is issued after July 6 is processed under the new, lower amounts. But there is a grace period — and if you act before Sunday, July 5, you can still lock in today's higher rebates. Here is exactly what's changing, who it affects, and how Season Energy secures the old amounts for you.

What Changes on July 6, 2026

Three changes take effect at once. Together they touch nearly every rebate-eligible upgrade we install:

  • Heat pump rebates are being reduced. Every conversion from natural gas, propane, or oil to a heat pump will qualify for a lower rebate than it does today.
  • The electric-to-heat-pump rebate (ESP2) is being discontinued. Homes currently heated with electric resistance will no longer receive this ESP rebate at all.
  • Insulation rebates are ending entirely. Effective July 6, ESP discontinues all insulation rebates — there is no reduced amount afterward.
  • There is no grace for late starters. If your Eligibility Code or Opportunity Report is issued after July 6, your project is processed under the new policy — without exception.

The Grace Period: How to Keep Today's Higher Amounts

Here's the good news. If you already have — or move quickly to get — a valid ESP Eligibility Code, you can still be paid at today's rebate amounts. To qualify, your signed quote has to reach ESP on or before Sunday, July 5, 2026, and the work has to be installed and invoiced between July 6 and July 31, 2026. It's a tight window, but very doable if we start now — and we handle the ESP submission and paperwork for you.

  • You have a valid ESP Eligibility Code (we can help you obtain one quickly if you don't).
  • Your signed quote — with your deposit — reaches ESP on or before Sunday, July 5, 2026. We prepare and submit it for you.
  • Your installation and invoice both fall between July 6 and July 31, 2026.
  • Already invoiced on or before July 5? You're still reviewed under the old amounts.

Switching From Gas, Propane, or Oil

This is the biggest opportunity of the three. Converting from a fossil-fuel furnace or boiler to a heat pump currently earns the program's highest rebates — and those amounts are being reduced on July 6. If you've been on the fence, this is the week to decide.

  • Lock in the higher amount by getting a signed quote and deposit to ESP before July 5. We handle the submission.
  • Your heat pump must be installed and invoiced between July 6 and July 31 to use the grace period.
  • Missed the window? You may still qualify for the Better Homes and Home Renovation Rebate Program — we'll check your eligibility either way.

Currently Heated by Electric (ESP2)

If your home runs on electric resistance heat, the ESP2 rebate for switching to a heat pump is being discontinued on July 6 — not reduced, discontinued. After that date this specific ESP rebate is simply no longer available.

  • Act before July 5 to secure the ESP2 rebate under the grace period, with install and invoice between July 6 and July 31.
  • If you can't meet the grace-period conditions, the Better Homes and Home Renovation Rebate Program may still apply — we'll help you find out.
  • A heat pump still pays for itself over time through lower energy use and year-round heating and cooling — rebate or not.

Adding or Upgrading Insulation

Insulation is the clearest deadline of all: on July 6, ESP ends all insulation rebates. There is no reduced amount afterward — the rebate simply goes away. If insulation is on your list, this is your last week to capture it through ESP.

  • Get a signed insulation quote and deposit to ESP before July 5, with install and invoice between July 6 and July 31.
  • After the deadline, the Better Homes and Home Renovation Rebate Program may offer an alternative if you're eligible.
  • Insulation quietly cuts energy bills year-round — pairing it with a heat pump maximizes both comfort and savings.

Your Before-July-5 Checklist

Here's everything that needs to happen this week to lock in today's rebates. Most of it is on us — you really only need to do two things.

  • You provide: your signature on the quote, and your deposit. That's it.
  • We obtain or confirm your ESP Eligibility Code.
  • We prepare your complete quote — scope of work, total cost, rebate amount, and scheduled installation date.
  • We submit everything to ESP on or before Sunday, July 5, 2026.
  • We schedule your installation and invoice between July 6 and July 31, 2026.
  • We file your rebate application after installation is complete — the only time ESP will accept it.

The Bottom Line

After July 6, 2026, ESP processes every new project under the new, lower amounts — and for insulation and electric-to-heat-pump conversions, the rebate is gone entirely. The program has been explicit that there are no exceptions once your Eligibility Code or Opportunity Report is dated after July 6. The only way to keep today's amounts is the grace period, and it closes to new quotes on Sunday, July 5. If a heat pump or insulation upgrade has been on your mind, one free call now is the difference between today's rebate and next month's. We'll confirm your eligibility, prepare your quote, and handle the ESP paperwork — at no cost and no obligation.
